Under The Lily Pad: Mixed-Media class Why stick to one medium when you can use them all? In this exciting new class, students will learn to integrate five diverse and foundational art practices into one spectacular final project: a detailed, textured pond scene. This is the ultimate "art playground" class for young creatives. Throughout this series, students will develop a multi-disciplinary skill set: Printmaking: Kids will learn Gelli plate printing to create the complex, layered background of for water lillies. Painting & Drawing: Master the vibrant blend of watercolor painting enhanced with watercolor wash and ink for precise detail. Sculpture: Hands-on work with air dry clay to create 3D animals that inhabit the scene. Crafting: Learning the intricate art of making tissue paper flowers. Textile/Texture Art: An introduction to the ancient texture of fresco painting applied to a modern canvas. Students will finish the course with a rich exposure to different art materials that interact and a stunning mixed-media portfolio piece to display.
