Intermediate Robotics Session F
must complete beginner A and B first
Service Description
Intermediate Robotics Take your building and coding skills further with complex mechanical engineering challenges using the LEGO MINDSTORMS Robot Inventor system. Designed for returning students, this class moves beyond basic wheeled bots to focus on intricate linkages, precision steering, input encoding, and multi-motor coordination. Students will construct and program three functional robotic mechanisms: ⚬ The 8-Legged Spider: Master walking gaits and mechanical linkages by building a multi-motor walking chassis. Students will coordinate eight articulated legs through precision motor timing and program custom walking controls. ⚬ The Combination Lock Claw: Explore data inputs, rotation angles, and logic conditions. Students build a motorized locking claw, then program the hub dial to read rotational positions as numeric combination codes to secure and unlock the mechanism. ⚬ The Stand-Up Scooter: Tackle independent steering mechanisms, balance, and drive geometry. Builders construct a motorized front-steering column paired with a rear drive motor, programming the scooter for responsive remote-control handling and automated path navigation. Key Concepts Covered: ⚬ Multi-motor synchronization and multi-bar mechanical linkages ⚬ Dial rotation feedback, variables, and conditional logic ⚬ Direct remote-control mapping vs. automated movement sequences ⚬ Real-time mechanical troubleshooting and structural reinforcement Prerequisite: Completion of two Beginner Robotics sessions (or instructor approval). Familiarity with basic block-based programming and Technic assembly is required.
