Course Overview--5 week class Step into the world of 3D design with “3D Printing Explorers: Tinkercad for Beginners”! This six-week course is designed for absolute beginners—young creators ages 9 to 14—who are ready to learn how to turn ideas into digital 3D models. Students will build the foundational skills needed to design confidently in Tinkercad, the fun, web-based design platform used by makers and engineers around the world. What Will Students Learn? Building Digital Design Skills: Students will learn to navigate Tinkercad’s tools to design original 3D models step by step. From basic shapes to complex creations, they’ll gain a strong understanding of how digital design works. Design Process & Precision: Creativity meets focus! Students will follow guided design challenges that teach planning, spatial reasoning, and careful attention to detail—essential skills for successful 3D modeling and printing. 3D Printing Basics: Learn what happens after a design is complete—how 3D printers turn digital models into real objects through slicing, supports, and layers. Hands-On Projects: Each student will design and print at least two of their own creations, gaining experience in both digital modeling and real-world fabrication. Requirements Students must bring a laptop and mouse to each class. (Touchpads are not recommended for precise design work.) This course is appropriate for most 9-year-olds and up, but students should have enough hand-eye coordination to use a computer mouse effectively. Because the design process involves careful, step-by-step instruction, students should be comfortable listening closely and following directions. Tinkercad is web-based, so students can continue exploring and designing at home between classes. Why Join “3D Printing Explorers: Tinkercad for Beginners”? Learn by Doing: Students will move beyond passive learning to actively create, experiment, and refine their work. Build Confidence in Technology: This course helps kids feel capable and confident using design tools—skills that carry into engineering, art, and problem solving. Encourage Creativity Through Structure: Students discover that innovation often begins with a process. Following clear design steps leads to exciting creative results! Class size is limited to ensure personal guidance and plenty of time for one-on-one support. Register today and help your child take their first steps from imagination to creation!
