Intermediate Robotics Session D
must complete beginner A and B first
Service Description
Intermediate Robotics 6-week course for upper elementary students (Prerequisite: Beginning Robotics A & B) Think Like an Engineer. Build Like a Pro. Take your robotics skills to the next level! In this 6-week challenge, we’re moving away from "follow-the-steps" builds and diving into the high-tech world of Stability, Remote Control, and Mechanical Power. Using the LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor system, students will tackle three unique projects that mirror real-world technology—from self-balancing transportation to high-performance automotive engineering. The 6-Week Roadmap: Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share what our young engineers will be diving into during our upcoming 6-week robotics rotation. This session is designed to move from high-speed physics into complex mechanical logic. My goal is always to ensure the kids aren't just "building kits," but truly understanding the mechanics and engineering principles behind every movement. Here is an overview of our roadmap: Weeks 1–3: The Dragster We are kicking things off with a deep dive into speed and stability. Because this build takes three weeks, it allows us to really focus on gear ratios and aerodynamics. The kids will explore how to maximize velocity while ensuring their vehicle stays on track. It’s a fantastic lesson in trial, error, and fine-tuning. Weeks 4–5: The Combination Lock Claw This is a more technical challenge focusing on precision and mechanical security. The claw introduces the concept of input-output logic—how a specific sequence (the combination) translates into a physical action (the claw opening). Week 6: The Copycat Dial (If time permits) To wrap up the session, we have the Copycat Dial. I’ve planned this as a bonus project to sharpen our skills in sequencing and memory. It’s a fast-paced, interactive build that reinforces how robotics can be used to create games and responsive technology.
